One of two petrol garages that used to be in Rishton.
This garage was built on the site of the former Saint Peter's and Paul's School, which will have been demolished in 1961. It wasn't long after this that the garage was built.
Originally owned by Billy Fox, who was the owner of the cinema in Rishton, Billy's daughter, Joyce married David Ball. David Ball was the local Police Sergeants Son, Sergeant Ball, who was still remembered round Rishton in 2003. David at the time was a sales representative for Total petrol, and managed to convince Billy to sell this petrol from the forecourt.
Soon Billy became partners with one of the Wolstenholme's from Rishton, and soon Billy was shown the door. Shortly after leaving, sadly Billy died. His widow carried on in the business for a while, checking the accounts etc., until she too was finally asked to leave.
The rumours at the time suggested that Billy was forced out the door, and the stress and strain led to his death. It is said, that the Doctor at the time, after examining Billy went to the garage and accused the owners of pushing Billy over the edge.
