The Brownies started in 1914 as Rosebuds but that name did not last for long, as girls became more independent and Victorian attitudes diminished.

The 1st Rishton Brownies were the first pack in Rishton to be registered with the Girl Guides Association. This is the order in which they registered, hence each pack or unit has there own number.

The brownies in Rishton are based at Primetime, Methodist Church, Saint Charles School, Saint Peters & Paul's Junior School and the Baptist Church.
