It was the 8th October, 1886, that the Liberal club first opened, and in 1881 prior to this, it could be found on Hermitage Street. The secretary at this time being Elijah Leyland1. Strangely by 1885 the club no longer has a listing.
On the 22nd September 1934 the Rishton U. D. C. bought the building to use as a public library2.
The building has been demolished and a green with seating is now in its place.
On the back of the post card the text read "This is the Liberal Club and I was a member for about 3 years. I hear it has been sold and is used for other purposes now"3.
