This is a brief list of people who became famous, or should have been, that have been to the town of Rishton. When more information becomes available the pages will be expanded.

Amy Johnson - During the 1930's she was the first woman to fly from England to Australia among other things, she once visited Victoria Mill in the town.

George Thomlinson - Born in the town and became the Education Minister in Winston Churchills Government.

Harry Allen - Notoriously famous for becoming Britain's last (Unofficial) hangman. He wasn't born in Rishton, but did live in Tottleworth for a time, and worked at Cobbles in Blackburn.

Jon Anderson - Part of the musical duo Jon and Vangelis, and former song writer with the rock supergroup Yes. Jon lived on Parker Street in the town for a while, although it is not known if he was born there. Most reports have his birth place as Accrington.

Ernest Marsden - World famous Physicist. Born on Hermitage Street where a blue plaque now marks his birthplace.

Chung Lee See - Magician.

Eric Easton - The man who found the Rolling Stone rock group and set them on their career. Born in Rishton.

Chad Varah - The founder of the Samaritans, which he started in 1953, once visited Rishton Library to talk about his work and the group which he started.

Eartha Kitt - A singer and Actress visited the town to stay for the night with a friend.

Peter Andre - Pop singer who became a TV presenter visited the town for the day whilst making a programme for ITV.

Martin Dobson - Burnley and England footballer who was born in the town and married in the Methodist chapel on High Street.
