Now here’s a street that most people wont even know exists. This little side road ran to the open fields and allotments prior to Barn Meadow Crescent being built in the early 1970’s. The house for the Crescent can be seen in the background.
The street is just about wide enough for 2 cars to pass each other, providing they are small cars. I seem to recall that the Street was wider, but they lined it with the trees that you see on both sides now.
The street is no more than 20 yards long, and must be one of the smallest streets in Rishton.
On the 14th January 1940, The Council Surveyor reported that representatives of 108 Hermitage Street had consulted him regarding the condition of Hanson Street, the Street was not made up and completed and therefore unadopted. The Council resolved that no further action was to be taken in the matter.
