Named after George Clarke the brick maker who did so much for Rishton industry. Part of the street was built by the Clarke family.

Clarke Street July 1997 looking East.

Clarke Street runs in a westerly direction between George Street, and Walmsley Street.

Features of the street include the hipped roof houses on the right hand side in this picture; only the most central house has it.

The houses on the right are rendered, giving the impression of a random stone building, possibly even local stone from close brow quarry. The houses on the left are stone faced.

The right hand houses after the rendered ones were built by George Clarke from Norden brickworks.
