Running from Blackburn Road, across from the turrets, to Station Road, at the front of Saint Charles Church, Highfield Road is about 200 yards long, with a near 90 degree bend in it.

Highfield Road in July 2001

Highfield Road is these days a rat run. Traffic coming from the South Side estate is a morning and evenings have started to use this road to turn toward Blackburn. Don’t get me wrong; it’s not the driver’s fault, but the estate planners who did not allow for more than one exit from the estate.

Highfield Road has always been a busy street because it is the main entrance to the cricket club. If you manage to get a parking space on here on match day then you are a God! Even if you don’t drive the street will be humming with people.
